Carole Balawender started her writing journey as a reporter and editor for both newspapers and magazines. She was also a research assistant, teaching assistant, and reporter for the Office of University Communications at Colorado State University, where her research articles were published by the Associated Press. After earning a degree in Technical Journalism, she gained experience in publications management, training, and technical writing, which included lead and management positions.
Carole left the high-tech world to get her teaching certificate and a Masters in education. She later taught junior high students and co-developed the first technical reading and writing course at Preston Junior High School in Fort Collins, Colorado. When she returned to the world of high tech, she led a UX writing team for the initial release of auto provisioning software at Hewlett-Packard. She then put her education and writing background to use as a Senior UX writer in the higher education division of Pearson. She recently moved back to the world of high tech as a Senior UX writer at CrowdStrike.
