Many writers can relate to the experience of moving from one type of writing to another. The biggest change for some writers who move to UX is the shift from more independent work to highly collaborative work with a designer or architect. While this approach has many benefits, it can be challenging to navigate the change from “I” to “we”.
It can also feel like a writer’s contributions aren’t fully known or valued, particularly if the role is new to a company, or if content is seen as separate from design, and design second to development. Writers do a lot more than just provide a few words on command though; they bring a wealth of experience and skills to the UX table – even if they aren’t always seen.
